What is StikiPad?

There's a lot of ways to describe what StikiPad is. Officially, it's a hosted wiki provider that lets you collaborate online - unofficially, it's a blank piece of paper where you decide its use.

StikiPad is written completely in Ruby on Rails and utilizes technologies such as AJAX to increase usability within the StikiPad interface. We host StikiPad in a private datacenter to maximize security of your data, and take many precautions to ensure your data is never compromised.

What's all this wiki talk?

Wikis have been around for years, but have been limited to either internal business communication or to tech-savvy users who have the know-how of setting them up. A wiki is a piece of software that allows anybody to edit pages and post feedback - it lets you communicate with however many people you wish, and keep communication all in one place. A wiki is similar to a public message board in that any user can register and post their comments. Where a wiki differs is the capability of creating an inter-connected database within its pages. In your StikiPad, you can make several pages and link them together - this keeps your data organized while still immediately accessible.

Where StikiPad differs from regular wikis is in the features and its easy administration. Whether or not you've used a wiki before doesn't matter - if you can use a word processor and e-mail files, you'll be able to use StikiPad. And, if you still need some guidance, we're always here to help.

Hi! We're StikiPad, Inc., a privately owned company that is driven by us - two entrepreneurs in our early twenties who love the web and what it does for everyday productivity and communication. We've built StikiPad around keeping things simple enough to help new users harness the power of wikis, and still powerful enough to satisfy the most advanced users.

We're proud of our work, and we're even more proud with what our users are doing with it. Our initial goal with StikiPad was to build something we use. In hindsight, we've succeeded as we use it for daily communication between the two of us and others behind-the-scenes at StikiPad. We challenged ourselves to build StikiPad, and we want to challenge you to use it in unique and extraordinary ways.
